Population Health
Looking for ways to assist with the improvement of population health and well-being in general is a passion. Whether that's working in healthcare or volunteering with health promotion, I have a special interest in Hauora Māori Health and oral health.
Resilience
In life we all have to deal with setbacks, some are harder to overcome than others. Resilience is the ability to bounce back from these stressors and like a muscle, the more you use it, the better you get at it. Resilience is a skill that can be taught to anyone, young or old.
Mental health & self-care
We all have it and just like physical health, we have to look after it. Myth busting what mental health really means, how to recognise it and self care strategies to help you thrive.
Early Intervention
What happens when someone is suffering mental health challenges, would you know what to do? Having the confidence and skills to ask someone, you think is struggling with mental distress, are you OK, can have a positive impact for them. This is about early intervention and supporting workers within the organisation or encouraging them to get professional help.
Stress Management
Life is all about balance, but for a lot of us that can seem like a dream. Learn when to slow down and what can be included in our day to day life to manage and minimise how stress affects us.
Hauora Māori
"Hurihia to aroaro ki te ra tukuna to atarangi kia taka ki muir i a koe" (Turn your face to the sun and the shadows fall behind you). Māori adults are 1.5 times more likely to have anxiety or depressive disorder, understanding the Māori world view to help improve hauora health outcomes.
