Improvise, Adapt, Overcome

About a hundred years ago when I was a young soldier in the New Zealand Defence Force a Clint Eastwood movie (Heartbreak ridge) had this catch-phrase. I can't remember how many times since, I have lived by this phrase ... "Adapt, Improvise, Overcome".

Right now Covid-19 has taken our world and thrown it all over the place, for some people this is extremely hard to deal with, others will take the challenge a make new realities, they will adapt, improvise and overcome.

One of the other things I learnt from NZDF is to keep calm in the face of the storm... if you don't you make dumb decisions! When it's over you can fall to pieces, but right in the moment, you need to make decisions based on facts. It's easy to get caught in the 'Henny Penny' moment and feel like the sky is falling, but it isn't. It is giving us other opportunities, a chance to adapt our businesses, our lives, our futures and overcomes the current challenge.

Be kind to yourself and others, breath deep and know this will pass. It may bruise & dent a few ego's on the way, because none of us like to feel failure, but failure in itself promotes growth.

As my very wise Grandmother used to say to me ... "You have to have the bad times, so we appreciate the good ones". #PracticeSafe #growth #opportunities #mentalhealth
